Is Success Secret?

It was my friend's motto that success was never a secret. I recall the last time he condemned the reading of inspirational books, saying that, "You have all the theories inside you. All you need is to put that into practice. No more time to waste around."

After graduating from Amoud University, some of my friends asked me about the most important lessons I have learned during my schooling. Among other lesson, this included my response:

Success is not a secret. An eight year old boy/girl knows all the elements that go into a successful job. Allah made the elements of success so well pronounced that no body dares to ignore when they shine at the horizon. It is very easy to recognize a loser. Easier is to recongize a successful one. All of a sudden, his/her name goes into everyone's ear without invitation - and more importantly, labelled with GREAT. Losers are best known by those around them, not the world. The world gives a deaf ear to the losers. No wonder that we do not know what Thomas Edison did when he was making the 9th mistake in inventing a light bulb, let alone the other 9,998 trials. However, today we know what he did the 10,000th time: he made the light bulb in a fashion we imitated first and then improved.
Almost all the books I have read reinforce these simple facts with beautiful quotations. Above all, these words are always furbished by successful ones - the ones you and I want to imitate or excel against.

If you want to be sure that you know all those elements of success, here is a list to check yourself. If you agree all these statements, then you know the elements. If not, check out your mental state.

1. Procrastination takes you to nowhere except losing.
2. Success is not only keeping yourself from losing, it is also attaining valuable goals and objectives.
3. Success is not pleasing others; it is meeting your standards based upon true principles; and therefore, pleasing yourself.
4. No man succeeds without significant others. Family is one. Friends is another.
5. No part of your life is an island. Every part is connected to every other part. Those who realize that and tap on that makes most out of their lives.
6. Love is powerful and makes you powerful.
7. Hate is disaster and spells disaster in your life.
8. Your attitude is your steering wheel and you are the driver. If you drive your attitude to negative, it will destroy you.
9. Sex is not a weapon. If you use it as a weapon, it chooses to become a bomb and explodes in the hand of the beholder.
10. Give more than you take.
11. Learn everyday from all the sources available to you. Your foes gives you valuable lesson. By the way, did I mention that is why they are there?
12. LISTEN. Listening is different from hearing.
13. Laughter is the best medicine.
14. Self confidence is the first pre-requisite for success.
15. Man makes money, but money does not. Do not a price tag on people, nor on your beliefs.
16. There is no shortcut to success. Every success demands proportionate sweat.
17. Anger is only one letter short of danger.
18. Time is the most valuable non-renewable resource one ever had.

Do you want me to continue? No way. I am tired of telling trite.

I have no better way to conclude this than quoting the words of the famous philosopher, Aristotle, "We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit." http://www.words4ever.com/listQuotes.php?subject=221
